2025 Asia Pacific Drosophila Research Conference

TAIPEI, TAIWAN

Nov.30 - Dec. 4, 2025

National Biotechnology Research Park

C201 Conference Room

Drosophila research began around 1900 AD by Thomas Hunt Morgan and has become an extremely important model animal. Research areas cover a wide range of areas, including neurodevelopment, neural circuits, neurodegenerative disease patterns, intestinal development, autophagy machinery, stem cells, cell development and molecular mechanisms, cardiac development, aging, neural signal processing, cancer patterns, expression Epigenetics, sexual differentiation, evolution, ecology, vector control mechanisms, to disease patterns of kidneys and other organs. Seven countries in the Asia-Pacific region form a preparatory committee to host the AsiaPacific Drosophila Research Conference in rotation every two years. The first Asia-Pacific Drosophila Conference was held in Taiwan in 2011, followed by South Korea (2013), China (2015), Japan (2017), India (2020), and Australia (2023). Over the years, the conference has been attended by 300-500 scholars, making it a world-renowned event for fruit fly research. The 2025 conference will be hosted by Taiwan APDRC7.

This conference will cover nine sessions: (1) Developmental Mechanisms, (2) Cell Biology, (3) Physiology and Metabolism, (4) Neurodevelopment and neurodegeneration, (5) Neural circuit and behavior, (6) Stem cell and Regeneration, (7) Genomics and Evolution, (8) Disease Model, (9) Technological Innovation. Each session is chaired by a professor or researcher from a different university or Academia Sinica in Taiwan, who then invites a fruit fly expert from other Asia-Pacific countries to co-chair, and invites fruit fly experts from all over the world in this field to the conference. Public speaking. The invited speakers include Nobel Prize winner in Physiology and Medicine (Eric Weischans) and academicians from six countries. Many senior scientists who have long been engaged in Drosophila research can be invited to give keynote speeches, which not only demonstrates the international and research field of this conference. The vision also shows the importance of this meeting.
